SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE!

Here is the blog you all have been waiting for… our ministry location and more details!

I am happy to finally inform all of you of more details—hopefully answering some of your question!

We will be working with a ministry called Mission Impact and Nueva Generacion in the beautiful city of Antigua, Guatemala!  Some of the ministry that we will be doing includes visiting hospitals, schools, old folks homes and building relationships with people in the community.  We will have more details for you guys at training camp in a few weeks!

I know that most of you have questions on what to bring and pack so here is a specific list on what to bring. These are in addition to the blog that Nick posted titled “Packing List”

  • Bring a sleeping bag—I would go with one that packs small and something that you are comfortable with.  On the facebook page some of you talked about what degrees you should bring, but that’s up to you. The one that I brought on the Immersion trip was a 30-degree sleeping bag and I liked it, but some people brought 55 or even slept with sleeping bag liners.
  • Bring a sleeping mat/pad and a travel size pillow— look into bringing a thermarest or REI brand-sleeping mat (or something along those lines).  They make such a difference and you can use them for a long time after this trip!
  • Clothes—bring clothes that you feel comfortable in! We are staying in more of a touristy city so skirts for girls in not mandatory.  We can wear jeans and nice shirts. We can also wear longer shorts (to the knee).  I suggest that girls bring some skirts for church on Sundays and stuff like that.  They should be to the knee, but they do not have to be all the way to your feet.  Also, bring some clothes that you can get dirty in because we might be doing some manual labor while we are there.  Also bring a swim suit in case we spend one of our days off at the beach! With whatever you bring, keep in mind that we want to represent the ministry well.
  • Shoes- Bring comfortable ones! We will probably be walking a lot. But also bring some shower shoes/flip flops
  • Rain gear— bring a rain jacket/umbrella since it will be the rainy season while we are there
  • Computers—I saw that some of you were asking about this, and we will have access to internet cafés that have computers so you don’t really need to bring them.  But this is up to you, so whatever you feel comfortable with!

We are so excited for this summer! Please feel free to message me or email me any questions that you have.  I will be happy to try to answer them!

See you soon,
Roni and Mark
